It’s been an eventful spring marketing wise (and otherwise) this year. We have seen some great campaigns that have managed to both reach the target audience and create a lot of social engagement. Here are our favorite impactful marketing campaigns this spring:

#MakeWhatsNext: Change the Odds, by Microsoft

This ad is a great example of how marketing can do so much more than just sell a product. Great marketing can create awareness, impact and make a difference. Microsoft introduces new technology as something fun and beautiful. The aim of the campaign was to encourage girls to pursue STEM and has, of course, a lot of brand building value.

The truth is hard to find, by The New York Times

It’s no secret that great journalism is underrated in today’s society, but because the internet is flooded with fake news, it’s also invaluable. This is what The New York Times wants to remind us of with this campaign. They have made the bold move of creating a movie out of still pictures, and the effect is stunning. Although the focus of the campaign is how refugees flee war in rafts, the viewer is also left with this message: The truth is hard to find.

13 Reasons Why

Two pictures, one message: Maybe I could have started over with the right person. This goes to show that great impact can be achieved even with simple campaigns. Say what you will about the show that featured teenage suicide, this ad evokes emotions, engagement and by extent: views.

Maybe I could have started over with the right person.

Tattoo, by American Greetings

This ad features a young woman getting a tattoo of a phrase her deceased mother wrote to her in a greeting card.

A card is just a card, but in the right moment it means everything.

What a great message. It makes you think about all the little things in life that we often take for granted.

The World's Most Eligible Bachelor, by Ogilvy Africa

Is there anything more heartbreaking than a lonely rhino, the last of his kind, desperately seeking a mate? We think not, and judging by the reach and amount of engagement that this campaign received, we are not alone. The campaign managed to raise awareness and money.
